Alien/human hybrid developing rapidly within the womb of a human mother
Accelerated gestation (also known as accelerated pregnancy) is the process in which an alien-human hybrid organism quickly develops shortly after conception. It is physically similar to what occurs in human gestation, but is accelerated by the alien species and culminates in the hybrid child's violent bursting from inside the mother host's body. With the alien species being hostile to humans, its birthing process is lethal for the female human host.

Kal, a male hybrid, was conceived via implantation inside a comatose human woman who displayed accelerated gestation within a week. As an adult, Kal raped a stripper and left her impregnated. His child also rapidly developed inside its mother's womb within minutes, but died shortly after its birth as her ambulance crashed and burst into flames.
Kal first indicated how more dangerous male hybrids are in comparison to female members of the species; while Sil could generate at least one hybrid child at a time, Kal was able to impregnate several women, increasing the species population and speeding up human extinction.
Species II[]
A human infected by the alien DNA on Mars, Patrick Ross' offspring were all given birth to shortly after their mothers suffered accelerated pregnancies after sexual intercourse with him. Marcy was the first, with her hybrid child violently bursting out from inside her. Infected by the same alien DNA, Anne Sampas was horrified by her accelerated pregnancy caused by having sex with Harry. She was killed after the alien species emerged from her stomach in a purer form, also killing Harry.

- Rather than appearing like the human-alien hybrids spawned by Sil or Patrick, the alien creature that generated inside Anne appeared to be in a pure form.
- The hybrid's horrifying bursting from inside the human hosts strongly resemble the famous Alien chest-bursting, which is how the Xenomorphs are born in that franchise. The victims' belly is ripped out similarly to the Xenomorph egg.
- The alien rape and pregnancy nature of the Species universe reverses the original symbolism of Alien; the Xenomorph life cycle was intended to be a metaphorical answer for rape, with male characters getting forcibly impregnated with the alien creatures from the facehuggers (whose structure resembles a female vagina). The Species world only victimizes women in this way.
