After Dennis Gamble, Preston Lennox, and Laura Baker had killed the alien that Patrick Ross had became, military arrived and took care of the cleanup. Nurse Ayliffe was part of the military and was put in charge of the care of injured Dennis Gamble, when he was airlifted to hospital.
