Eve seeing through Patrick's eyes
Telepathy is one of the abilities displayed by a human-alien hybrid, as part of their mentally enhanced nature. The hybrid is able to control other humans and become aware of other hybrids with this ability. A telepathic link between two hybrids also triggers their mating instinct.
A human, Dan Smithson had telepathic abilities linked to extrasensory perception (ESP) and empathy, which generated a strong emotional psychic link with hybrid Sil.
In the series[]
Species[]
Dan Smithson was hired by professor Xavier Fitch for his tracking team, after Sil broke out of her facility. His psychic abilities made Dan able to tell who his co-worker Preston Lennox was without knowing him. Dan was also able to tell and feel what Sil felt while being kept at the facility. Footage of Sil's inner alien nature manifesting while she dreamed left Dan uncomfortable. Dan also felt that Sil was still alive when the whole team thought she was dead. While passing by the suit Sil was in, Dan felt she was in there.
As an adult, Sil was able to mentally control Fitch, driving his team off her way. While at the hotel when everyone believed Sil to be dead, Dan felt her presence while she mated with Arden.
Species II[]
Eve offered herself to help Laura in tracking down Patrick, a predatory male hybrid on the loose, using her psychic abilities. She reached his mind and saw through Patrick's eyes as he attempted to rape a human woman. This actually linked the hybrids' minds and awoke Eve's mating instinct. No longer on the side of humanity, Eve later broke out of her facility to find and mate with Patrick.
Species III[]
Sara found Yosef through telepathic link and tried to reach him on a train but failed. They later met and started their mating ritual, until Sara noticed Yosef was sick and decaying, being unsuitable for mating. Sara later psychically found another female hybrid, Amelia.
The Awakening[]
Miranda was able to identify a male hybrid posing as a human, Calderon. Reborn as a sexual predator, she reapproached him and the two were linked telepathically by their mating instinct. Miranda, however, killed Calderon as he was sterile.
Notes[]
- Dan is the only human gifted with telepathy in the Species series.
- However, it was stated that Dan possessed empathy, the ability to read people's feelings, not their thoughts.
