I am reading the Species II novel and I have a question.
On the third paragraph of page 259, there is the following sentences: 'in another obscene version of alien birth.' Does this sentence mean 'Patrick's second form transformation' or simply mean a metaphor about 'Alien-Patrick is emerging from mating nest'?
Obviously, Patrick's transformation was written on page 256. So I thought the sentense means 'appearance of Patrick's another alien form', his second transformation occurs. However, considering that the novel is written at Press(Preston Lennox)'s point of view at that scene, there may be a possibility that 'Another' may was used as a opposite meaning to Alien-Eve. It simply means that he saw another alien besides Eve.

As a reference, the entire sentence of the sentence is as follows: 'the tear widened as long, dark fingers grabbed the side of it and pushed it open in another obscene version of alien birth.'
